Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:
- Keep Deli service areas well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands. Greet customers with a smile, answer questions, and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure freshness and proper condition of merchandise in display cases, with correct pricing and signage. Rotate products properly and handle spoiled or damaged items according to company standards.
- Operate slicing equipment to prepare meats and cheeses based on customer preferences. Package items with appropriate labels. Prepare ready-to-eat foods and platters, using knives and utensils safely.
- Follow recipes and safety policies when preparing food items such as chicken, pizza, sandwiches, salads, and others.
- Possibly operate cash registers, following proper procedures for money handling to prevent discrepancies. Comply with laws regarding tobacco and alcohol sales.
- Maintain sanitation standards by following cleaning schedules and health guidelines, disposing of trash properly.
- Assist in inventory control through proper handling, logging, and storage of products to minimize losses.
- Potentially assist with baling cardboard or related duties, with training provided.
- Help with receiving and storing deliveries using equipment like a power jack, if trained.
- Ensure department and store functionality by cooperating with team members and supervisors. Strive to improve job performance continuously.
- Use all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately, including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and footwear.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualification Requirements
Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. Requirements include:
- High School Diploma or GED, or working towards it. No prior experience required.
