Job summary

The Fresh Market is seeking a Deli Manager to lead the department, direct team members, manage inventory and pricing integrity, and uphold exceptional guest service. You will train staff and ensure efficient operations in a fast-paced setting.

Ideal candidates have retail or hospitality management experience, strong merchandising skills, and a passion for excellence in guest satisfaction. This role requires flexibility for weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3 years of management experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of planograms, layouts and merchandising is needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and assist them with accurate and timely information.
• Make recommendations and accommodate requests.
• Manage order guides, deadlines, shrink, and damages.
• Receive and stock goods following rotation standards.
• Direct teams to handle and prepare meats, cheeses, and CMS throughout the day.
• Coach and train team members through on-the-job training and internal platforms.

About The Position

As the Deli Manager, you are taking the lead in directing team members, managing department inventory, pricing integrity, training, and other operational processes that require significant attention to detail. This is a fast-paced position that requires efficiency, effectiveness, and a passion for excellence to drive results.

What You'll Do

• Greeting guests and proactively assisting them in a friendly manner with accurate and timely information
• Making recommendations and accommodating requests
• Managing order guides/ordering deadlines/reducing shrink/damage
• Properly receiving/stocking of goods that follow rotation standards when replenishing product levels
• Direct teams to handle, slice and prepare a variety of the department’s meat, cheeses, and Convenient Meal Solutions (CMS) throughout the day
• Engage, motivate, coach, and train team members “on-the-job” as well as through The Fresh Market’s internal training platform to provide excellent guest service in a safe and secure manner

Availability

This position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.

Qualifications

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of management experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality field or 5 years of related management experience
• Ability to read, understand and follow planograms, layouts, and schematics of the department for merchandising
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Must be at least 18 years old
