Job summary

Global Partners LP in Danbury, CT is seeking a Food Service Associate/Deli Clerk to run the deli and food service operations, ensuring sanitation, pricing, and guest service. You will handle cash transactions, learn to operate the register, scales, scanners and POS terminals, and assist with deli prep and stocking.

You’ll learn to read UPC codes, set up displays, and work with a variety of deli ingredients while maintaining a clean work area.

Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
Flexibility to work weekend, holiday and/or evening shifts and assist other locations as needed.
Must have 2 years foodservice or retail management.
Must have reliable transportation and an active driver’s license.
Serv-Safe certification preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Work in walk-in coolers and freezers.
Stand for long periods, bend and twist, and frequently lift and/or maneuver merchandise.
Dexterity with knives, slicers, burners, ovens, fryers and rotisseries (use of knives, slicers, burners, ovens, fryers and rotisseries for 18+)
Minors may ONLY use OSHA approved knives.

Responsibilities

Process cash register transactions, giving back change and refunds.
Learn to use register, scales, scanners and debit/credit terminals.
Learn to use UPC codes, store signage, and memorize various register keys and codes.
Read UPC codes, product labels, shelf signage, register forms, and posted company policies/procedures.
Learn and work with deli ingredients including meats, vegetables, fruits, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces and oils.
Use scale printer machines confirming weights and pricing.
Monitor product pricing, signage, and placement and use of shelf tags.
Keep a clean, neat check stand/sales counter and production areas.
Prepare, wrap, weigh, slice, and stock deli/food service products, rotate for quality and safety.
Cook deli items including fried foods, salads, sandwiches, roller grill items, hot/cold beverages, prepared meals and snacks.
Work safely around sharp slicers, tools and hot ovens/burners.
Display products following deli guidelines.
Take guest orders and ensure timely completion to guest satisfaction.
Perform other duties as assigned by Store Manager.
