Job summary

Gerrity's Supermarkets is seeking a Deli Clerk to support the Deli Manager by delivering professional and courteous service while handling deli meats and cheeses, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring accurate weights and portions.

You will work in a team-oriented environment, adhering to safety policies, dress code, and company standards, and you will help promote department promotions and customer satisfaction throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• No minimum educational requirement
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds
• Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, such as pounds and weight increments
• Ability to hear, speak, and understand the spoken word
• Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand English with sufficient proficiency
• Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and taste or smell
• While performing duties, stand and use hands/arms to manipulate objects
• Vision requirements include near/distant/color vision and focus adjustment

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists customers and thanks them upon satisfaction
• Slices and weighs deli meats and cheeses to customer satisfaction
• Maintains and stocks all designated department areas
• Cleans department equipment periodically
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation throughout department areas
• Sets up and tears down required areas at designated times
• Notifies customers of promotions in the department/store
• Be present at workstation at shift start
• Complies with safety policies and procedures
• Adheres to Customer Service Pledge at all times
• Maintains neat, professional appearance and Dress Code compliance
• Attends work as scheduled
• Follows Employee Handbook policies
• Performs other duties as assigned within essential functions
