Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a dedicated team leader to guide daily operations across our store department. You will mentor team members, model exceptional customer experience, and collaborate with leadership to meet goals and uphold Meijer standards.

You’ll engage customers, assign tasks, monitor inventory and safety, support scheduling, and help ensure timely training. This role requires strong communication, a passion for service, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced retail

Qualifications

• Passion for customer service with total engagement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a retail or service setting.
• Ability to mentor teammates and coach for performance.
• Experience in a customer-facing role is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage peers to provide the best possible shopping experience for customers.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily tasks.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed sales goals and uphold standards.
• Support training of new team members and cross-training of high-potential talent.
• Assist with department scheduling to maximize engagement and profitability.
• Ensure product freshness by monitoring rotation and dating policies.
• Lead by example in food safety and safe working practices.
• Oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display where applicable.
• Foster an inclusive Meijer culture and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
