ASSISTANT MANAGER/SHIFT LEAD

As an Assistant Manager at Military Deli & Bakery Services, you will have the opportunity to serve our nation’s Military personnel and their families at one of our 103 US Military Commissary locations. MDBS’s goal is to demonstrate a love for food and passion for people, creating an excellent customer service experience for our military customers.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist Deli/Bakery Manager in leading a team of 5-10 employees.
• Maintain high customer service standards, meet commissary requirements, and maximize profits.
• Oversee Food Safety and Sanitation policies and procedures.
• Manage inventories by tracking reports and ordering supplies.
• Assist in scheduling, training staff, and delegating tasks.
• Maintain records of inventories and work processes to calculate monthly profits.
• Ensure a safe and clean environment complying with health and safety standards.
• Communicate professionally with management to meet financial goals.
• Monitor and improve customer satisfaction.
• Keep accurate records of departmental activities.
• Promote a positive team environment and support staff duties as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of grocery or food service experience.
• Previous shift lead or management experience is mandatory.
• Ability to stand and walk for entire shifts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodations.
• Open availability, including weekends and closing shifts.
• Valid Food Safety Management Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
