Responsible for reviewing daily orders, preparing and replenishing products in a prompt, efficient, and friendly manner. Additionally, you will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.

Reporting Relations

Accountable to and reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Bakery Department Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
  • Greet customers with a smile, whether in your department or elsewhere in the store.
  • Make an effort to learn and address customers by name whenever possible.
  • Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, noting and passing along customer requests, and enhancing the shopping experience.
  • Review the freshness and appearance of food products.
  • Review daily orders and take customer orders at the bakery counter.
  • Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
  • Follow proper sanitation procedures and maintain a clean work area.
  • Ensure an adequate food supply is ready and develop or follow a production list.
  • Anticipate product needs daily, prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary.
  • Pull products from coolers/freezers for baking, check in products, and review invoices.
  • Operate the department register, handle payments, and make change where applicable.
  • Remove trash timely and adhere to personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
  • Report to work as scheduled and on time.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Order products and supplies as needed.
  • Price products for customers.
  • Deliver orders as necessary.
  • Assist in other store areas as needed and perform special projects.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and deal with concrete variables.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, copying figures, and recording.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions and request supplies orally or in writing.
Education and Experience

Less than high school or equivalent experience, with six months or less of related work experience.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
  • Visual requirements include clarity of vision at various distances, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
  • Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions

Work is conducted in a store environment with deadlines and multiple priorities. Exposure to flour dust, noise, cleaning chemicals, electrical shock, and temperature extremes.

Equipment Used to Perform Job

Includes mixers, ovens, wrapping machines, label printers, cash registers, telephones, dishwashers, bread slicers, electric knives, microwaves, airbrushes, and copy machines.

Contacts

Daily contact with the public and customers, and contact with regulatory agencies regarding inspections.
