ASSISTANT MANAGER/SHIFT LEAD

As an Assistant Manager at Military Deli & Bakery Services, you will serve our nation’s military personnel and their families at one of our 103 US Military Commissary locations. MDBS aims to demonstrate a love for food and a passion for people while providing excellent customer service to our military customers.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the Deli/Bakery Manager in leading the department by managing 5-10 employees.
• Maintain high levels of customer service, meet commissary requirements, and maximize profits.
• Oversee food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Manage inventories by tracking reports and ordering supplies.
• Assist in scheduling, training staff, and delegating tasks.
• Maintain records on inventories and work processes to calculate monthly profits.
• Ensure a safe and clean environment complying with health standards.
• Communicate professionally with management to meet financial goals.
• Monitor customer satisfaction and implement improvements.
• Keep accurate records of department activities.
• Promote positive team morale.
• Perform staff duties as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in grocery or food service experience.
• Previous shift lead or management experience is mandatory.
• Ability to stand and walk for entire shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodations.
• Open availability, including some weekends and closing shifts.
• Valid Food Safety Management Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
