Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe environment during the de/anti-icing operation and make sure all company policies and procedures are being followed correctly.
  • Uphold and follow the duties related to de/anti-icing aircraft according to procedures for both airlines and IDS including inspecting aircraft for frozen contamination.
  • Participate in the pre-planning for the de/anti-ice event (perform checks on equipment, trucks, servicing equipment with fuel or glycol).
  • Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including paperwork and logbooks; that all maintenance issues have been logged and reported to maintenance and all proper shutdown procedures for the equipment are followed.

Position Overview

The primary role of the aircraft deicer is to remove ice from the aircraft. The individual in this position inspects the aircraft for ice and for remaining frozen contamination after the deicing has been performed. He or she sprays the airplane down with the deicing fluid, which is usually made of glycol.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to prevalent weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.

Physical Demands

Must be able to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crawl, climb ladders and work at heights in excess of 15 ft to perform role, repairs, or inspections; Must be able to speak, hear efficiently to supplement other senses in maximizing situational awareness in safety sensitive environments; Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; May be exposed to loud noises, harmful materials and dangerous equipment or machinery.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work

This is a part time seasonal position.

Travel

No travel is anticipated with this position.

Security Clearance

Ability to obtain and maintain all security clearances required by Transport Canada or TSA and/or local jk Airport Authorities; Ability to pass pre-employment background screenings.
