Job summary

The NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) seeks a dynamic Equal Opportunity Specialist 2 to lead DEIA workforce initiatives, design trainings, and build partnerships to advance cultural and linguistic competence across the agency. The EOS 2 will partner with the EOS 3 and DEI leadership to implement strategic objectives, surveys, and communications.

The role emphasizes accessibility, plain language resources, and statewide engagement in trainings and events, across Albany

Qualifications

  • Seven years of experience in equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion or human rights OR one year of State service in an equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, minority business, employment compliance, human resources, or training position allocated at or above Grade 18.
  • Substitutions: associate’s degree may substitute for two years of nonsupervisory experience; bachelor’s degree for four years; and Juris Doctor or master’s degree for five years.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of ongoing DEIA strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain accessible resources and communications for OPWDD employees in plain language.
  • Monthly agency messaging on observances, updates, resources, and more from Diversity and Inclusion mailbox and SharePoint.
  • Website and SharePoint maintenance and updating internal and external DEI information.
  • Designing and disseminating an annual Diversity Calendar.
  • Designing and facilitating employee engagement with DEIA initiatives (lunch and learns, webinars, celebrations).
  • Lead, design, implement and evaluate DEIA training initiatives for OPWDD workforce.
  • Support internal workgroups and DEI-related committees.
  • Design and implement pre- and post-training assessments and surveys on DEIA topics.
  • Design and implement evaluation and feedback surveys for DEIA engagements.
  • Analyze data and prepare quarterly reports for OPWDD leadership.
  • Support annual reporting to NYS Department of Civil Service Office of Diversity & Inclusion Management.
  • Collaborate with EOS 3 on internal and external DEI workforce development partnerships.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher (substitutions available)
