S&P Dow Jones Indices is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its Global Legal, Compliance, Risk & Government Affairs Team in the Americas. The role focuses on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements for licensing indices used in investment products, including digital assets and DeFi initiatives.

Ideal candidates have a JD/LLM and 6+ years of experience in commercial contracts, with strong interest in financial services, data licensing, and blockchain

Qualifications

• J.D. or LLM and admitted to practice law in the United States.
• 6+ years’ legal experience with contract negotiation and drafting.
• Interest in financial services, DeFi, digital assets and data licensing.

Responsibilities

• Lead structuring, drafting, negotiating and advising on complex commercial agreements for DeFi and digital assets.
• Advise on licensing indices for financial products and data distribution.
• Collaborate with product, technology, and commercial leaders on strategic initiatives.
• Support compliance with confidentiality, insider trading and related policies.
