Job summary

GM Defense is seeking an Electrical System Engineer to define and integrate electrical systems for government programs, spanning high- and low-voltage power, interfaces, wiring, and controls for defense vehicle platforms.

You will work with multiple domain SEs to develop vehicle design solutions, guide production if selected, and collaborate with product owners and program management to meet mission requirements.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Mechanical/Systems Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years in electrical systems, vehicle electrical engineering, or related field.
• Experience with high-voltage or electrified vehicle systems and safety.
• Experience developing or reviewing schematics, wiring diagrams, or system diagrams.
• Knowledge of CAN/CAN-FD/LIN/Ethernet networks.
• Ability to work in a small team environment with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical architecture definition for defense platforms.
• Translate requirements into electrical system specs and interfaces.
• Define vehicle-level topologies, power distribution and HV components.
• Develop and review schematics, wiring concepts, and interface documents.
• Support proposals, technical volumes, and customer presentations.
• Ensure designs meet automotive, defense, safety, cybersecurity, and ITAR requirements.
