Job summary

GM Defense is seeking a seasoned Chassis Design Engineer to lead suspension system development for defense vehicles. You will drive the full lifecycle from concept through production, ensuring performance, durability, safety, and regulatory compliance.

In this role, you will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing, and leverage CAE/TcVis data to manage risks and optimize designs for field performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in chassis and suspension system design and development.
• Proficiency in applying DFMEA, DRBFM, and DFSS.
• Demonstrated ability to apply structured problem-solving techniques.
• Ability to rapidly learn and apply new technologies.
• Proven ability to design robust and compliant components.
• Strong project management skills, including component delivery and engineering change management.
• Familiarity with safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements in automotive or defense industries.
• Proven technical leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead suspension system development from concept through production, translating requirements into robust designs.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing to mature designs and meet delivery timelines.
• Guide analysis, validation, and engineering changes through launch.
• Utilize CAE and data to identify risks and drive improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote production-readiness.
