Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks an experienced Test Engineer (Level 2) at its Armament Systems site in Plymouth, MN. The role focuses on creating production test equipment, developing diagnostic programs, and supporting the test environment for medium and large-caliber ammunition systems and precision capabilities.

You will work with embedded software, schematics, and both digital and analog electronics.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Physics, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent & 2 years related STE engineering experience, OR a Master’s degree in physics, EE, CE or equivalent.
Ability to obtain and maintain government secret clearance after starting employment (US Citizenship required).
Read/understand schematics; work with embedded software; design circuitry for signal conditioning and isolation.
Experience with digital and analog electronics and test platforms (PXI, GPIB).
Solid programming skills and familiarity with LabVIEW, Python, C++ or similar languages.

Responsibilities

Create production test equipment and test programs for military/aerospace products.
Design and implement cost-effective test methods for Design Verification (DVT).
Maintain and update test equipment for board-level and final acceptance testing.
Support production floor test equipment and fixtures.
Understand product functionality to optimize test time and suggest additional tests.
Participate in design reviews and design-for-testability activities.
Assist with fixture fabrication and parts ordering; manage suppliers.
Document test procedures and compile data to drive changes in equipment or processes.
