Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a software engineer to join the GWS Fire Control software team in Huntsville, AL. You will contribute to the development and testing of mission-critical routines that evaluate the threat scene for missile defense systems and translate Ada code to C++ while collaborating with a diverse team.

The role requires strong math and physics background, experience in Ada/C++/Java, and a willingness to obtain/maintain an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field with 0–2 years (M.S. 0–2 years) experience for Software Engineer; 5+ years (M.S. 3 years or PhD 1 year) for Principal Software Engineer.
• Recent experience developing software in Ada, C++, or Java.
• Willingness to become highly proficient with Ada software development.
• Strong math and physics background.
• Ability to understand and implement complex algorithms in software.
• Must be able to support an in-person/closed-area work environment.
• Travel up to 10% to support business needs.
• Active in-scope Secret security clearance is required to start.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software on the GWS Fire Control team.
• Understand, implement, and test existing and new capabilities and algorithms.
• Contribute to code modernization and translate Ada code to C++.
• Review requirements and test cases in support of the GFC software team.
