Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Sector in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Project Engineer to lead cross-functional engineering activities for a fast-paced defense modernization program. You will manage technical baselines, track deliverables, and serve as the integration focal point between Systems, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Test, and Program Management teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, systems engineering, or related technical discipline with 4+ years of direct experience, or MS with 2+ years
• Experience supporting large defense development programs or production programs
• Strong verbal and written communication, team player, cooperative relationships
• Hands-on experience with engineering schedule management and project planning tools

Responsibilities

• Support program management office in cost, schedule, procurement, integration, resources
• Collaborate on staffing forecasts and estimation planning
• Develop and track engineering schedules, deliverables, risks, and action plans
• Identify and mitigate engineering risks and issues
• Define resources and schedules with technical leads
• Oversee personnel performing detailed scope of work
• Support supplier management and subcontractor coordination
• Assist in developing technical docs and verification plans
• Capture status with weekly metrics and risk registers
• Participate in system integration and test planning events
• Review resources and cost charging for control accounts
• Prepare variance analysis reports and corrective actions
• Join IPT meetings for technical integration
• Lead team status updates and issue escalation
