Job summary

Applied Intuition Defense is seeking a Perception Engineer to build and deploy perception models across maritime, land, and aerial domains, integrating with EO/IR capabilities. In this in-office role, you will deploy to Jetson-like hardware, contribute to MLOps tooling, and help scale data generation via simulation and generative AI. A U.S.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Engineering, Robotic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in training ML models in PyTorch on multi-machine, multi-GPU systems.
• Experience in optimizing and deploying ML models to edge devices.
• Strong experience with agentic coding with Python and/or C++.
• Experience leveraging AI-powered development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
• Adeptness with remote software development and handling large datasets with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop perception models that find and classify targets with a low error rate.
• Deploy perception models to Jetson Orin+ boards and optimize real-time performance.
• Build tooling across the perception stack: labeling tools, simulation.
• Collaborate with Applied Intuition Defense staff and cross-functional teams.
• Scale up datasets using simulation, diffusion, and generative AI techniques.
• Create optimized inference software with high FPS on Jetson-like hardware.
