General Motors Research & Development in Warren, Michigan is seeking an Entry-Level Defense Lab Modeling and Simulation Researcher to lead a small team and drive applied research across vehicle defense domains. Qualifications

Pursuit of an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Engineering or related field, graduating Aug 2026–Jun 2027.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required; ability to work in a defense environment.
Experience with defense acquisition, FAR/DFARS/ITAR and program leadership.

Responsibilities

Conduct research with a team of defense researchers, driving innovation and execution.
Define and manage defense research programs, scope, deliverables, and direction.
Align research priorities with GM needs through collaboration with R&D and Defense teams.
Strengthen partnerships with universities, federal labs, and defense organizations.
Prepare high‑quality technical reports, publications, and invention records.
Assess projects for defense applications and propose modifications.
Lead technical reviews and communicate progress across the organization.
Maintain expertise in emerging defense technologies, trends, and warfare.
Support transition of defense research programs into production programs.
