Job summary

General Motors invites a Summer Research Intern to join the Vehicle Defense Research group within GM Research & Development in Warren, MI.

You will contribute to applied research across military systems, defense technology, vehicle platforms, and emerging technologies, working with experienced scientists and engineers to translate concepts into vehicle, system, and software applications for federal and defense customers.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship is required.
Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, CS, physics, math, military science, national security, or related field.
Must be a current student.
Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during summer.
Demonstrated knowledge of military systems, defense technology, or related subjects.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, research, and technical writing skills.
Ability to communicate and collaborate with scientists, engineers, program managers.
Hybrid work environment and milestone-driven internship.

Responsibilities

Support research planning and execution across defense-focused domains.
Collaborate with GM researchers, engineers, and external partners.
Prepare technical presentations, summaries, and project documentation.
Communicate progress and recommendations to stakeholders.
Identify opportunities to apply research outcomes to GM products and defense programs.
