Job summary

Leidos is offering a Systems Administration Intern role in the National Capital Region to bridge classroom study with real defense IT operations. You’ll shadow experienced systems administrators, learn Windows server administration, and gain hands-on exposure to enterprise networking and security practices.

The internship runs 10–12 weeks with start targeted in early June 2027; eligibility requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in CS, IT, CE, cybersecurity, or related field.
• Maintain good academic standing; rising sophomores, juniors or seniors acceptable.
• U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
• Foundational Windows knowledge and basic PC hardware understanding.
• Basic networking knowledge (IP, subnets, DNS, gateways).
• Interest in scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) and defense software.

Responsibilities

• Shadow senior systems administrators during setup, testing, and deployment of enterprise servers and workstations.
• Assist in software installation and routine system audits within Active Directory/DNS environments.
• Learn power-user tasks and automation with PowerShell; observe GPOs and identity management.
• Support patch management, vulnerability remediation, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Provide professional customer support to personnel in a government environment.
