Job summary

Leidos is offering a Systems Administration Intern role within its Air Force National Capital Region IT Services team. You will work with enterprise technicians to gain hands-on experience in enterprise networking, Windows Server environments, and defense IT practices.

Through shadowing, you’ll learn system setup, patching, backup procedures, and security controls while preparing for DoD clearance and potential full-time opportunities in national defense operations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Systems Administration, or a closely related field.
• Rising Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors in good academic standing.
• U.S. Citizenship is required and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Shadow senior systems administrators during setup, testing, and deployment of enterprise servers and workstations.
• Assist in hardware relocations, cable management, diagnostics, and component upgrades.
• Learn deployment and configuration of GCCS client/server software on Windows AD/DNS environments.
• Observe system audits, pre-deployment checklists, and daily health-monitoring scripts.
• Gain exposure to PowerShell scripting and automation tools for configuring workstations and pulling reports.
• Observe GPOs, DHCP configuration, and identity management in Active Directory.
• Learn DoD patch management and vulnerability remediation in a secured environment.
• Assist with applying software patches and security updates for system readiness.
• Assist in routine backups and learning COOP disaster recovery plans.
