Job summary

Esri’s GIS Solution Engineers on the Defense team advise customers on complex challenges using ArcGIS. They build trusted relationships, demonstrate solutions, and craft strategies that align Esri technology with business needs.

The role requires defense domain knowledge, strong analytics, and the ability to travel up to 50% domestically or internationally. Esri emphasizes growth mindset, collaboration across teams, and delivering high-impact GIS solutions for national government missions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with Esri technology creating maps, performing spatial analysis, and configuring web applications.
• 1+ years of experience in supporting the Defense space.
• Understanding of ArcGIS from an IT context (hardware, storage, security, networking, web services, virtualization, cloud).
• Experience in technical consulting and conceptual solution design with sales/business development awareness.
• Experience with geodatabases and underlying DBMS technology.
• Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and environments (Azure or AWS).
• Strong presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills.
• Ability to travel domestically or internationally 25-50%.
• Bachelor’s degree in geography, computer science, or a related field.
• US Citizenship and security clearance eligibility for Secret/TS/TS-SCI.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with customers; present, demonstrate, and support selling Esri software and solutions.
• Become a subject matter expert of Defense and ArcGIS; communicate Esri messages confidently.
• Proactively craft solutions showing GIS business value; align Esri technology with client needs.
• Present technical demonstrations and design presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
