Job summary

Palantir Technologies in Washington, DC is seeking a Software Engineer - Applied AI to own end-to-end AI agent features for defense applications. You will work across UX, tooling, and performance to deliver reliable, low-latency AI solutions for mission-critical users.

Your day-to-day includes collaborating with users, designers, and engineers to refine workflows, optimize agent performance, and ensure high-quality, scalable software. Prior experience with LLMs and tool design is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience coding in Java, C++, Python, JavaScript or similar languages
• Strong software engineering skills and experience delivering production applications
• Proficiency with React and TypeScript
• Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics or related field
• Strong written and verbal communication, ability to iterate with teammates and maintain quality
• Active US Security clearance or eligibility to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI agents that help defense and intelligence users investigate complex questions, analyze data, develop plans, and produce actionable work
• Improve agent experience through data-driven evals across memory, tooling, and context management
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless user experiences across product boundaries
• Build intuitive interfaces for directing agents, tracking progress, inspecting evidence, and refining outputs
• Own features from experimentation through production deployment with users, designers, and engineers
• Optimize applications for speed and scalability through performance analysis and handling large-scale data
