Job summary

Alpena Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant for Hinks Elementary School. This full-time, non-exempt position assists in the classroom, lunchroom, and on the bus, supporting students including those with special needs.

Under supervision of certificated staff, the IA helps implement accommodations, conduct instructional activities, and assist with IEP/504 planning, data collection, and behavior management to foster student success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• CPI certification or willingness to become CPI certified preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists student(s) in reaching their maximum potential and in individual/small group instruction.
• Assists teacher with discipline, modifications to curriculum, and material preparation.
• Supports data collection and documentation for individual students; assists with BIPs and Tier II/III interventions.
