Job summary

IC Imagine - Lower School in Asheville, NC is seeking a full-time Lower School Exceptional Children’s Instructional Assistant. You will support kindergarten through 5th grade students with specialized instruction and behavior supports in a modified year-round schedule.

Starting immediately; salary based on IC Imagine salary schedule. Duties include collaboration with teachers, behavior support, and assisting with meals and daily activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma.
• 1 year of experience in a school setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain positive and consistent communication with students and teachers about academics, behavior, and attendance.
• Work cohesively in a team setting.
• One-on-one support for students as needed.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and other staff.
• Use positive reinforcement behavioral system.
• Assist classroom teacher with duties and tasks to support instruction and behavior objectives.
• Work with individuals, small groups, or large groups as assigned.
• Assist with behavior modification as needed.
• Escort students as assigned.
• Monitor students to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Provide programmed practice activities as directed by teacher or pathologist.
• Report student concerns promptly to the teacher and assist with resolution.
• Assist with meals and cleanup.
• Support basic daily living skills for students.
• Maintain records and files.
• Follow handbook processes, respond to emails, provide timely feedback.
• Perform other duties as required.
