Job summary

ORBIS Inc. is seeking a Deck Plate Supervisor Coach to improve productivity and drive schedule adherence while maintaining safety and quality. The role requires extensive supervisory and 2nd-level management experience in shipbuilding/maintenance, along with U.S.

citizenship and a secret security clearance. The position is based at Quonset Point, RI and Groton, CT and offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment within shipbuilding/ship maintenance.
Minimum 5 years of 2nd level management experience in an industrial environment within shipbuilding/ship maintenance.
Degree requirements: None
Must be a US citizen
A secret security clearance

Responsibilities

Coach supervisors to ensure work is staged and briefed to workers.
Set clear expectations for half-shift progress and ownership.
Define backup tasks and ensure progress is reported.
Ensure rapid communication of barriers and progress on a half-shift basis.
Develop and maintain work site readiness, tools, instructions and equipment.
Attend meetings with the supervisor and provide coaching on preparation and listening.
Spend at least 4 hours per day on the deckplate and ensure smooth handoffs to successors.
Coach higher-level supervisors to reinforce coaching outcomes.
