Job summary

ORBIS Inc. is seeking a deck plate supervisor coach for Huntington Ingalls in Newport News, VA. The role focuses on coaching to improve productivity while maintaining safety and quality, with a salary of $130K-$150K per year.

Responsibilities include leading deckplate presence, ensuring work is staged, communicating progress, and supporting the supervisor and trades to achieve on-time delivery. US citizenship and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of Supervisory experience in an industrial environment within the shipbuilding / ship maintenance industry.
Minimum 5 years of 2nd level management experience in an industrial environment within the shipbuilding / ship maintenance industry.
Degree requirements: None.
Must be a US Citizen.
A secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

Coach supervisors to ensure work is properly staged and briefed to assigned workers.
Set clear and unambiguous expectations for work progress in half-shift increments.
Ensure backup tasks are defined and coverage is in place for progress.
Promote rapid communication of barriers and progress on a half-shift basis.
Lead efforts to achieve target time on task and productivity while maintaining safety and quality.
Spend at least 4 hours a day on deckplate.
Attend meetings with Supervisor and provide coaching on preparation and listening.
