Job summary

ExactHire seeks an experienced seaman to join our vessel crew in Alaska. You will perform maintenance, painting, rigging, cargo handling, line work, and watch duties while upholding safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities include safety drills, lifeboat maintenance, reporting issues, and training new crew. A valid merchant mariner credential is required. Expect 12-hour shifts, physical demands, and teamwork in a challenging marine environment.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid merchant mariner credential
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting at least 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work long shifts (12 hours) and stand watch
  • Strict adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

Responsibilities

  • Preserve and maintain painted surfaces; perform daily maintenance and housekeeping on the vessel
  • Report safety issues and vessel faults to the Master
  • Assist with rigging, cargo handling, and lifeboat maintenance
  • Participate in safety and rescue drills and wear PPE at all times
  • Provide training and guidance to crew as needed
  • Direct crane operators using signals or radio for hoisting and moving equipment
