Job summary

Goldfish Swim School - Minnetonka is seeking a part-time Deck Supervisor to lead assigned shifts, oversee instructors, and maintain a safe, engaging pool environment for students and parents. You will ensure program quality and adherence to Goldfish curriculum.

Available shifts are Mon-Thu 3-7 PM and Sat-Sun 8-1 PM; paid training and certification are provided, with opportunities for career advancement and strong references.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with children and engage with families.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Two+ years as a swim instructor required.
• Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required (paid training).
• Experience as youth coach/instructor preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned shift, supervise on-deck staff and ensure safety.
• Maintain pool environment and adherence to curriculum.
• Provide feedback and conduct evaluations of instructors.
• Communicate progress with parents/guardians.
• Complete daily supervisor logs and coordinate facility cleanliness.
• Arrange replacements for absent staff; act as substitute instructor when needed.

Requirements

• Two or more years as a swim instructor required
• Experience as a youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or teacher preferred
• Passing Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required. Certification will be completed with Goldfish Swim School Minnetonka (PAID TRAINING & CERTIFICATION)

Summary

Manages assigned shift including supervision of on-deck employees, maintenance of pool environment and interaction with students and parents/guardians. Exhibits expert-level knowledge of all levels of the GSS curriculum. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of GSS management policies and practices. Available shifts include Monday - Thursday 3 - 7 PM, Saturday & Sunday 8-1 PM.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides leadership, discipline and constructive feedback to instructors and deck teachers.
2. Ensure quality delivery of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
3. Conducts periodic evaluations of instructors and deck teachers.
4. Interacts with parents/guardians to discuss student progress.
5. Completes daily Deck Supervisor logs on assigned shift and monitors the students’ attendance.
6. Coordinates tasks required to ensure the cleanliness of the pool facility.
7. Arranges for replacements for absent employees.
8. Maintains the appropriate levels of chemicals for the pool environment.
9. Acts as substitute swim instructor when necessary.
