Job summary

Goldfish Swim School in Ohio (Sylvania) is seeking a Deck Supervisor to lead on-deck staff, supervise classes, and maintain a safe, engaging pool environment. The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate shifts across multiple instructors.

You will interact with parents, discuss student progress, and act as a brand ambassador to ensure customer satisfaction. Training, advancement opportunities, and flexible schedules are provided as Goldfish Swim School

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Two or more years as a swim instructor required.
• Experience as a youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or teacher preferred.
• College degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and feedback to instructors to ensure quality delivery of the GSS curriculum.
• Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and prepare the deck for the shift.
• Conduct periodic evaluations of instructors and deck teachers.
• Interact with parents/guardians to discuss student progress.
• Act as a GSS ambassador to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Complete daily Deck Supervisor logs and monitor attendance.
• Coordinate tasks to ensure pool facility cleanliness.
• Arrange replacements for absent employees.
• Maintain appropriate chemical levels for the pool environment.
• Act as substitute swim instructor when necessary.
• Suggest areas for improvement and implement training.
• Participate in training/in-services as required.
• Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Job Title: Deck Supervisor

Reports to: General Manager/Assistant General Manager/Pool Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Manages assigned shift including supervision of on-deck employees, maintenance of pool environment and interaction with students and parents/guardians. Exhibits expert-level knowledge of all levels of the GSS curriculum. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of GSS management policies and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides leadership, discipline and constructive feedback to instructors and deck teachers to ensure quality delivery of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
2. Conducts daily pre-shift meetings and prepares the deck for the shift.
3. Conducts periodic evaluations of instructors and deck teachers.
4. Interacts with parents/guardians to discuss student progress.
5. Acts as a GSS "ambassador" to ensure customer satisfaction.
6. Completes daily Deck Supervisor logs on assigned shift and monitors the students' attendance.
7. Coordinates tasks required to ensure the cleanliness of the pool facility.
8. Arranges for replacements for absent employees.
9. Maintains the appropriate levels of chemicals for the pool environment.
10. Acts as substitute swim instructor when necessary.
11. Suggests areas for improvement and implements corrective action through in-services or other training.
12. Participates in training/in-services as required.
13. Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED is preferred. Two or more years as a swim instructor required. Experience as a youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or teacher preferred. College degree preferred.

Certificates and Licenses: Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
