Job summary

Goldfish Swim School in Michigan is seeking a Deck Supervisor to lead a fast-paced pool deck during evening and weekend shifts. You will oversee lessons, coach instructors and lifeguards, and ensure a golden experience for every family.

You’ll provide coaching, maintain safety standards, and coordinate team coverage while driving continuous improvement. This role emphasizes leadership, communication, and a proactive, guest-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required and must remain active.
• Background in youth sports coaching, camp leadership, or teaching is a plus.
• A natural coach who gives feedback early, often, and with intention.
• Calm under pressure and able to make quick decisions when it matters.
• Must be available for evening and weekend shifts.
• Regular exposure to heat, humidity, and chlorine; moderate noise level.

Responsibilities

• Own the shift from start to finish - prepare the deck, lead pre-shift and post-shift meetings, and keep lessons running on time and on brand.
• Coach Swim Instructors, Deck Assistants, and Lifeguards through direct observation and feedback that drives real improvement.
• Interact with parents and guardians post-lesson to discuss progress and act as a Goldfish Swim School ambassador.
• Complete daily Deck Supervisor logs and monitor student attendance on assigned shifts.
• Conduct periodic evaluations of Swim Instructors and provide actionable feedback.
• Coordinate facility cleanliness tasks and ensure the pool environment meets standards during the shift.
• Help arrange coverage for absent team members to keep shifts running smoothly.
• Step in as substitute Swim Instructor or Lifeguard when needed.
• Identify areas for improvement and help implement corrective action through training.
