Job summary

LeoForce is seeking a Sr Energy Engineer in DC to lead Existing Building Decarbonization projects, including planning, benchmarking, and BEPS compliance; the role is hybrid and requires independent project management and strong client interaction.

You will perform energy audits, retro-commissioning, electrification concepts, and life‑cycle cost analyses, while coordinating with clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver cost-effective decarbonization strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 5+ years delivering energy efficiency and decarbonization projects in North America.
• Eligibility to access government facilities.
• Thorough knowledge of common commercial HVAC systems and components; plumbing/electrical familiarity.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or certs such as CEM, BEAP, BCxP/CCP.
• Experience with BEPS programs and DMV/DC area knowledge.
• Familiarity with utility incentive programs in the DMV region.
• Strong real estate industry network and outreach ability.
• Residence in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive building performance optimization including diagnostics, analytics, controls optimization, and retrofits for BEPS compliance strategies.
• Lead energy modeling and life-cycle cost analyses to evaluate ROI of decarbonization strategies.
• Plan, manage, and execute energy engineering and deep retrofits from scoping to closeout for existing buildings.
• Advise clients on BPS compliance strategies and coordinate with regulators to meet program requirements.
• Lead troubleshooting, witness testing, data collection and presentation to support project decisions.
• Prepare in-depth technical reports and project documentation for clients.
• Support clients with project management, RFPs, construction management, and operations.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, contractors, and stakeholders; ensure quality, schedule, and cost control.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and ensure adherence to ASHRAE standards.

Skills

Bachelor's/M.S. in Mechanical/Electr./

5+ years energy efficiency decarboniz.
