Qualifications

• Ability to work with high school debaters.

Position Summary

It will be the responsibility of the debate assistant to work with the head coach to help prepare students for competition and assist in supervisory and administrative coaching duties. Under the direction of the head coach the assistant debate could may perform the following duties:

• Administrative
  • Arrange Tournament Entries, debater pairings, judges etc. when necessary
  • Arrange additional judges when needed
  • Work on travel arrangements when necessary
• Coaching
  • Attend weekend tournaments with the team (approximately 6 throughout the season)
  • Assist in student supervision on weekend tournaments
  • Assist students in preparing for debates at tournaments
  • Assist students with research prior to tournaments
  • Attend and run one team coaching session per week.
• Competitions
  • Serve as a judge for Country Day at tournaments
  • Supervise/Assist students, to, from, and during the tournament
  • Supervise students on the bus to and from the tournament
  • Supervise students, at the hotel, on any overnight trips
• School year schedule
  • First week in September starts the season
  • Second weekend in December ends the season
