Job summary

Chatham County is seeking a qualified CNT Agent/Police Corporal with a High School Diploma or GED and four years of sworn law enforcement experience. Out-of-State Certified Officers may pursue EOT via Georgia POST, with conditional offers and guidance through certification requirements.

The role includes handling overdose investigations, writing narratives, interviewing suspects and witnesses, testifying with the DA, and responding to scenes. Flex hours and on-call rotations are expected.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current Georgia Peace Officer Certification required.
  • Four (4) years of law enforcement experience with a full-service agency.
  • Two (2) years of investigative experience in law enforcement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct follow-up investigations on overdose death cases.
  • Prepare investigative narratives and professional case files.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews and interrogations with suspects and witnesses.
  • Work with the District Attorney's Office and testify in court proceedings.
  • Respond to crime scenes and callouts.
  • Conduct roll call training with Patrol.
  • Write clearly, concisely, and correctly with strong computer skills and attention to detail.
  • Interact with the general public and other County employees.
  • Work flexible hours, subject to callouts on nights, weekends, and holidays.
