Job summary

Distinctive Schools in Chicago is seeking a Dean of Students to partner with the Principal to maintain a safe, positive learning environment and lead discipline administration across the campus. The role requires implementing the DS philosophy, supervising the Culture Team, and coordinating with staff and families to support student achievement and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• K-12th Grade Education Experience
• 1 year experience working in urban setting
• 3-5 years of experience Technology demands: Proficient with cloud based software solutions ( GoogleSuite)

Responsibilities

• Be an expert at responding to the challenges presented by today’s diverse student population.
• Maintain a positive climate and learning atmosphere for all students so that they can achieve their academic and personal goals.
• Train staff on classroom management, student-staff relationships, crisis response, and school culture strategies.
• Implement, monitor and coach the community on the Distinctive Schools philosophy and model for responding to Student Code of Conduct violations.
• Ensure 100% resolution of all Student Code of Conduct incidents.
• Supervise and evaluate the School Culture Team to ensure training and goal setting.
• Provide proactive leadership to engage stakeholders in service delivery for student achievement and development.
• Lead cooperatively with students, staff, and families toward a positive climate.
• Oversee specific teams of teachers or staff as assigned by the School Principal.
• Drive coordinated response to school culture data.
• Monitor attendance and assist with parent conferences; track and report attendance data.
• Prepare monthly reports on suspensions and violations; track discipline data.
• Enforce handbook procedures including dress code; ensure 100% Code of Conduct resolution.
• Develop and progress monitor student safety and behavior plans.
• Follow safety procedures and oversee the School Security officer.
• Maintain professional boundaries when administering disciplinary actions and collaborate with Leadership Team.
