Job summary

Jack Farrell & Associates has exclusive responsibility for identifying the next Dean of the Killam Library at Texas A&M International University. The Dean will lead 20+ staff, manage a $2.6M budget, and drive strategic plans including AI integration to advance teaching and research.

The role requires an MLIS from an ALA‑accredited program, strong administrative experience, and a track record in library innovation and collaboration. Relocation to Laredo is available.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Progressive administrative experience in an academic library setting.
• Eight years of related library experience, including managerial roles.
• Experience with Open Educational Resources and Open Textbooks.
• Knowledge of library technologies and automated systems.
• Ability to lead budgeting, strategic planning, and assessment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the chief administrative and strategic leader for all library programs, services, and facilities.
• Provide visionary leadership for a team of 20 full‑time staff and ~20 part‑time workers.
• Manage the annual budget of $2.6 million and oversee operations including facilities and services.
• Develop and implement plans for acquisition, cataloging, circulation of media materials; pursue partnerships.
• Coordinate external funding and grant proposals to enhance programs and collections.
• Lead policy development and ensure compliance with university guidelines.
• Foster collaborations across campus and with external institutions; explore AI integration.
