Job Description

The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department and for selling additional needed service to customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Schedule service appointments and greet customers in a timely, friendly manner. Obtain customer and vehicle data prior to arrival when possible.
• Provide accurate written cost estimates for labor and parts, establish promised completion times, and obtain proper authorization before performing any additional repairs.
• Monitor repair progress throughout the day and contact customers regarding any changes to estimates or timelines, explaining cost and time requirements in detail.
• Test‑drive vehicles or refer to the test technician as necessary to ensure quality service delivery.
• Advise customers on vehicle maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications to maximize vehicle longevity.
• Maintain Customer Satisfaction Index ratings comparable to manufacturer, zone, or branch averages.
• Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA requirements.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report any accidents to a manager or supervisor.

Preferred:

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
• Two years of experience in a dealership position.
• General knowledge of vehicle mechanical operations.
• ASE certification preferred.
• Sales experience (in a retail or dealership environment).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
