LIU in the United States seeks an Intervener for Hearing Impaired Support to assist deafblind students, acting as a bridge by clarifying and modeling communication methods and adapting the environment for access and learning.

The role requires collaboration with teachers, service providers, consultants, and parents to address communication, academic, social, and emotional needs in both regular and special education settings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience with children with sensory impairments preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification recommended.
  • Certification in LIU-approved crisis prevention program required or pursued.
  • Must obtain highly qualified status within one year from date of hire.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and communication methods in deaf-blind education.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Complete the LIU Intervener Certification Program.
  • Enroll in a LIU-recognized intervener training program with portfolio submission within two years.
