Job summary

Lighthouse seeks a Deaf Services Program Specialist to provide direct program support, coordination, and advocacy for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing individuals under the LCD contract. The DSPS manages service programs, coordinates appointments and interpreters, and maintains documentation to ensure quality service delivery.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma; some college preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and written English; conversational ASL preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Deaf/Hard of Hearing community.
• Ability to drive and travel to outlying parishes; valid driver’s license.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem‑solving skills.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Manage LCD Hearing Aid Program (HAP) and TAP; meet contract deliverables and document.
• Complete Needs Assessments and refer clients to resources promptly.
• Schedule ASL interpreters; process invoices for contractors.
• Maintain records per procedure to ensure prompt documentation.
• Prepare monthly invoices for LCD programs with supporting documents.
• Grow a database of information and resources for people with hearing loss.
• Schedule consumer appointments and interpreters to avoid delays.
• Engage in outreach, advocacy, and education; deliver polished presentations.
• Collaborate with leadership to ensure consistent service across regions.
• Adhere to RID Code of Professional Conduct and HIPAA.
