Lovington Municipal Schools is seeking a Special Education interpreter for the Deaf to facilitate communication for Deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff. The role supports language access within classroom and school activities, ensuring accurate interpretation and transliteration.
The interpreter will transliterate English to signed English, interpret between spoken and signed language, and collaborate with teachers to align language concepts with IEP goals.

Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, climbing stairs, squatting, kneeling and moving light furniture may be required.
The interpreter must be able to operate multimedia equipment, appropriately use classroom materials, and follow the classroom curriculum. Take precautions to protect equipment, materials and facilities.
Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Job responsibilities include both inside and outside assignments. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. May make site or home visits as needed. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
