Job summary

TrulyHired is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to provide educational support and consultation within the district, collaborating with classroom staff to serve deaf and hard of hearing students. The role combines direct services with consulting to teachers and administrators, focusing on auditory/oral, ASL, or sign supported communication, and aligning with IEP goals and district initiatives.

Qualifications

Must hold Ohio State Board of Education license as an Intervention Specialist or K-12 Education of the Handicapped credential.
Endorsement for Hearing Handicapped or Hearing Impaired required.

Responsibilities

Evaluate student needs using nondiscriminatory screening and assessment tools.
Interpret assessment information to teachers, students and parents.
Provide consultation to teachers, parents and staff regarding the needs of deaf/hard of hearing students.
Provide support to students and school personnel using assistive devices.
Support instructional staff, interpreters, captionists and note takers.
Participate in IEP/ETR meetings and coordinate instructional/behavioral strategy planning with the IEP team.
Maintain accurate student records and reports; prepare and submit required documentation.
Develop communication and self-advocacy skills of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
