Job summary

Educational Service Center of Central Ohio seeks a Teacher of the Deaf to plan, implement, and evaluate learning experiences for deaf/hard-of-hearing students. You will coordinate educational interpreters, encourage parental involvement, and ensure compliance with state and federal education laws.

You will collaborate with General Education staff, monitor progress, and adapt curriculum to meet IEP goals. Requires advanced ASL and a valid Ohio teaching certificate.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate/License in the education of the deaf/hard of hearing.
• Advanced level of American Sign Language (ASL).
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff using ASL preferred, or Written English/Electronic communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide an educational program for students as defined by the student’s IEP.
• Work with general education teachers, interpreters, and other service providers to support interventions and curriculum modifications.
• Utilize assessment, data collection, and progress monitoring to inform instruction and progress.
• Communicate regularly with parents and professional staff regarding students’ educational, social, behavioral, and adaptive needs.
• Incorporate technology, maintain hearing aids and equipment, and uphold acceptable use policies.
• Maintain a safe, positive, engaging learning environment and supervise students.
• Seek professional growth and stay current with best practices in deaf education.
• Comply with Governing Board policy and district/state/federal regulations.
