Job summary

The Pennsylvania School for the Deaf seeks a full-time Teacher to deliver high-quality instruction across Preschool through Transition Academy, using American Sign Language (ASL) and adapting lessons to individual needs. You will collaborate with therapists, aides, and specialists to create inclusive learning environments and draft IEPs in partnership with families and districts.

The role emphasizes language development, social-emotional growth, and strong engagement with the Deaf community

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Deaf Education or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• ASL proficiency at Level 3 (ASLPI) or above; advanced proficiency preferred.
• Experience working with Deaf children across age ranges is preferred.
• Understanding of accessibility and communication principles in the school environment.
• Knowledge of child growth and development.
• Experience working as part of an instructional team preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons for Preschool through Transition Academy.
• Draft and implement IEPs in collaboration with parents and school districts.
• Collaborate with therapists, aides, and specialists to support learning.
• Model ASL consistently and promote Deaf culture and language models.
• Monitor progress and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.

• Engage in ongoing professional development to improve teaching practices.
