Job summary

Pasadena Independent School District is seeking a SpEd Aide for the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD). You will support the teacher of the deaf by facilitating communication for deaf and hard of hearing students within general and special education settings.

Responsibilities include reinforcing skills, using designated communication modes, and assisting with materials, equipment, and supervision throughout the school day in alignment with IEP goals.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Associate degree, 48 college credits, or NCLB assessment must be met.
• ASL Deaf Support Specialist certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in communicating between deaf/hard of hearing students and others.
• Reinforce and monitor skills previously introduced by the teacher of the deaf.
• Utilize students' designated modes of communication and assistive listening technologies.
• Collaborate with the teacher on progress toward IEP goals and data collection.
• Assemble materials and equipment to support high quality instruction.
