Job summary

Tutor Me Education LLC in Los Angeles is seeking a Dual-Role Specialist to provide Deaf-Blind Intervener support and Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) aligned with the student’s IEP. You will be the primary connection to learning, using tactile communication to bridge curriculum and the student’s environment, while documenting progress for compensatory education reporting.

This role emphasizes direct impact without a standard classroom setting.

Qualifications

• Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Visual Impairments, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, or Extensive Support Needs).
• Experience with tactile communication methodologies (Tactile Sign, Hand-under-Hand).
• Compassionate, patient professional who understands social-emotional challenges of dual sensory loss.
• Strong ability to document progress for compensatory education reporting.

Responsibilities

• Use tactile sign language to facilitate expressive and receptive communication.
• Deliver SAI tailored to the student’s IEP goals with no dead time in development.
• Help the student navigate surroundings to foster independence and autonomy.
• Collaborate with the District’s Due Process department to fulfill compensatory education requirements.
