Job summary

Point Quest Group in Santa Ana is seeking a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to implement IEP goals, deliver targeted instruction for students with advanced hearing needs, and promote academic and social growth in a school-based setting. The role focuses on adapting to each learner's needs and collaborating with staff and families.

You will adjust cochlear implants and assistive devices, teach using Signing Exact English and American Sign Language, maintain records, and report progress to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid California credential for Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
• Experience with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students preferred.
• Background Check and TB clearance required.

Job Title: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher

Pay Range: 55-60/Hr | Part -Time |Santa Ana CA | School-Based | 2026-2027 school year | Retirees encouraged to apply

About the Role:

Deliver targeted instruction to meet the goals and objectives outlined in each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) for students who have advanced hearing needs.

Adjusting cochlear implants as needed.

Classroom & Behavior Management:

Employ effective classroom and behavior management techniques to create a safe, functional learning environment for all students.

Student Evaluation & Reporting:

Observe and assess students' academic and social development, maintain detailed records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents about individual student progress.

Instructional Approaches:

Apply total communication or auditory/oral training methods in a self-contained setting to enhance learning outcomes.

Fluent Communication:

Provide instruction in Signing Exact English and American Sign Language, using both modalities as appropriate for different subjects and settings.

Assistive Devices:

Adjust hearing aids, FM units, and cochlear implant processors as needed, following audiologist's directions to meet the needs of individual students.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid California credential for teaching in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe classrooms and for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
• Experience: Desired teaching experience with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children or in a regular classroom.
• Knowledge of assistive listening devices and related technology.
• Background Check: Department of Justice/FBI Background Check (or equivalent state or national fingerprint clearance).
• TB Clearance
• Eligibility to Work: Eligibility to work in the US

Physical Demands:

Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes. Activity: Frequent engagement in tasks such as reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations. Sensory: Ability to perform essential job functions with or without assistive devices or accommodations, including working in moderate to high noise levels.
