Job summary

Eli Lilly and Company’s BioTDR group in San Diego is expanding a generative design platform combining AI/ML with protein engineering and high-throughput experiments. The role focuses on de novo design of biotherapeutics, integrating experimental feedback to improve models and discovery outcomes.

The team leverages a NVIDIA GPU-rich infrastructure to accelerate design cycles and translate complex data into actionable insights for antibody development and biologics.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in computational biology, biophysics, computational chemistry, bioengineering, chemical engineering, physics, statistics or related STEM discipline; or an M.S. with 3+ years; or a B.S. with 5+ years.
• Proficiency in Python and the scientific computing stack, version control, and reproducible analysis.
• Working knowledge of statistics, uncertainty quantification, regression, agreement metrics, calibration, and experimental design.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate analysis: assemble held-out datasets, compare predictions with experiments, quantify uncertainty, identify patterns and limitations.
• Biophysical calculations: run molecular simulations and evaluate features for stability, developability prediction.
• Data pipelines: build reproducible workflows preserving design, sample, assay, and metadata.
• Experimental partnership: plan informative data-generation studies with protein science and automation teams.
• Closed-loop learning: integrate outcomes into datasets and data products for model iterations.
• Scientific communication: present findings clearly to computational and experimental teams with actionable recommendations.
