Job summary

Arkansas Department of Education's Division of Career and Technical Education seeks a Program Advisor to coordinate the Arkansas Career Coach program. Responsibilities

  • Propose and monitor legislation affecting the Arkansas Career Coach program.
  • Formulate policies for new or revised programs in local schools.
  • Monitor program performance and data documentation for accountability.
  • Provide guidance to career coaches and establish priorities.
  • Manage development and revision of Arkansas Career Coach grants.
  • Review programs annually with stakeholders and partners.

Job Description

The Program Advisor will function as the Career Coach Program Advisor, for the Office of the Arkansas Career Program, in the Arkansas Department of Education - Division of Career and Technical Education (ADE-DCTE). The Program Advisor will work closely with Career Coach Program Coordinator to serve as a liaison between the Arkansas Department of Education - Division of Career and Technical Education (ADE-DCTE), career coaches, host site supervisor, superintendents, principals, and counselors, in Arkansas public schools and business and industry partners on issues related to the Arkansas Career Coach program.

Frequent in-state and some out-of-state travel will be required. Overnight travel throughout the year is necessary to provide career coach training, technical assistance, and program evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, or a field directly related to the assigned program area; plus two years of experience in education or directly related to the assigned program area. A teaching license is required. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements.

  • The Career Coach Program Advisor assists the Career Ready Pathways Coordinator as they review and approve new, expanded, or existing programs for the Arkansas Career Coach program to meet the needs of students, the host institution, school district, and industry.
  • Develop and facilitate professional development, meetings, trainings, and resources for career coaches.
  • Interpret and apply laws, regulations, and procedures regarding the administration of Arkansas Career Coach programs.
  • Proposes and monitors legislation which affects the Arkansas Career Coach program.
  • Formulates and recommends policies and procedures for new or revised programs or activities for implementation in local schools,
  • Monitors program performance, data documentation, and compliance to support accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to career coaches in the delivery of services and assists in establishing priorities.
  • Manages the development and/or revision of the Arkansas Career Coach grant in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education-Division of Career and Technical Education and the Career Coach Program Coordinator.
  • Reviews program annually according to Arkansas Department of Education-Division of Career and Technical Education, school district, host site, and industry need.

The Career Coach Program Advisor must be a self-motivated professional who can work independently, make sound decisions, and effectively manage responsibilities with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail is essential, as this role involves reviewing program services to ensure accuracy and accountability.

The successful candidate must demonstrate integrity, initiative, multi-tasking, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google application are required. Experience with public speaking and presentations is highly desirable for delivering professional development, promoting the Arkansas Career Coach Program and providing technical assistance to stakeholders.
