Job summary

Brainerd Public Schools at Riverside Elementary School is seeking an Educational Assistant for the 2026-27 school year to support students with disabilities in kindergarten through fourth grade. The 8-hour days span 174 duty days, with compensation of $16.50–$17.15 per hour, based on education and experience, under the district contract.

The role involves assisting with IEP goals, supporting in classrooms, lunchroom, bus loading area and inclusive settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Experience working with students with physical, cognitive and/or mild behavioral needs.
• Handle with Care Training certification within three months of hire.
• Para Educator Assessment certification within three months of hire.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to be a team member.
• Flexibility based on program and student needs.
• Assist students in individual or group settings including community settings.
• Implement and follow IEP prescribed therapies and programs; lifting and daily living activities when needed.
• Collect data on student progress as defined in the IEP.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Carry out IEP goals and adaptations in various settings.
• Assist students in resource room and inclusive settings including community.
• Provide interventions and accommodations as outlined in IEP.
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to ensure student safety and success.
• Supervise students during lunch, field trips, bus duty, and recess.
• Monitor progress and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Maintain communication with staff and follow district policies.
