Job summary

O'Reilly Auto Parts is seeking an Assistant Transportation Supervisor to aid in daily operations, coordinating driver activity, fleet readiness, and regulatory compliance. You will assist with training, scheduling, and performance reviews to keep the transportation team aligned with company standards.

The role emphasizes safety, on-time deliveries, and cross-functional collaboration across distribution center operations.

Qualifications

• FMCSR knowledge required.
• Familiarity with hazmat by highway regulations and ELDs.
• Experience coordinating daily work, communicating expectations and following up on tasks.
• Ability to adapt to new systems supporting fleet safety and transport performance.
• Effective communication with team members and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Assist Transportation Supervisor with daily coordination of transportation department activities, including driver communication, scheduling support, and operational follow-ups.
• Support supervision of transportation team members by assisting with training, scheduling, performance reviews, and goal tracking.
• Help ensure drivers and fleet vehicles comply with DOT, federal, state, and internal regulations.
• Monitor fleet readiness and support maintenance follow-up to ensure service schedules.
• Conduct and document driver training to ensure routes meet safety and transportation procedures.
• Assist with monthly safety meetings and reinforce safe work methods and policies.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for special deliveries or pickups as required.
• Communicate staffing and fleet coverage needs to leadership to maintain operations.
• Identify compliance concerns or unsafe practices and escalate per standards.
• Promote teamwork within the transportation department.
